goal2008.jpgThis year I’m struggling a bit with how to express my goals. It’s not that I don’t know what I want to accomplish, it’s how do I say it in a blog post? I’m feeling more focused, and yet ambitious, this year. I plan to hit a six figure income and that requires focus. But it is also ambitious, since I barely cracked at five figure income last year.

Anyway, I’ve finally decided not to go it alone and have hired a business coach. It was the best investment, and I’ve only been working with her for a couple of months. She’s really helped me narrow down the scope of what I want to accomplish, thus reducing some of the overwhelm I’ve experienced in the past few years.

Also, since it was time to get a new phone contract, I got a new music phone. I load it up with all the teleseminars I download from various sources and listen to them when I walk the dog. This, too, has greatly improved my business sense.

So, on with the goals. This time, I’m going to break it down into broad areas of my life. You might consider this, too. It really helps compartmentalize things and makes goals easier to digest. The 10 major areas of life are:

  1. Financial
  2. Career
  3. Personal Growth/Skills
  4. Health
  5. Family
  6. Spirituality
  7. Home/Physical Environment
  8. Friends/Community
  9. Fun Recreation
  10. Contribution/Making a Difference

Now, it might be a bit much to tackle all of them in one year. Then again, it might not. Here are my thoughts for my goals in 2008.

Financial

  • Earn a six-figure income. This could be from a combination of job and business. Doesn’t matter how — just that it happens.

Career

Personal Growth/Skills

  • Continuously improve my online marketing skills. I want to read my collection of e-books, listen to my collection of teleseminars, and attend at least one in-person seminar this year.

Health

  • Like always, loose weight. Arg! I anxiously await crossing this one off my list!

Family

  • Continuously improve my marriage.
  • Linked to income, I’d like to visit family I haven’t seen in a few years, and that requires time and money.

Spirituality

  • Work on developing a sense of inner peace. This will help me in all areas of my life.

Home/Physical Environment

  • I hate moving, but I think I’ll have to do it again come Fall. Although I like the townhouse I live in, the neighborhood is not the greatest.

Friends/Community

  • Participate in local networking opportunities and make new friends.

Fun Recreation

  • Read some fiction! I’d like to get through 6 books, but I’ll be happy if I hit 2.

Contribution/Making a Difference

  • Most of the websites I run tithe — 10% of the income goes to charity. This year, I’d like to earn enough from at least two of my websites to make that donation something to talk about.

So, what are you planning to do this year? I know in my heart of hearts that 2008 will be great!
